3D structural design using Siemens NX

Responsibilities

  • Lead 3D structural design using Siemens NX (UG NX), including modeling and assembly of UAV airframes and humanoid robot structures (e.g., joints and body components);
  • Participate in overall structural architecture design for UAVs (multirotor / fixed-wing / eVTOL) and humanoid robots, including layout design, structural topology, and system integration;
  • Design key structural components (e.g., arms, fuselage frames, landing gear, cabin structures, robotic joint housings and skeletons), balancing lightweight design with structural strength requirements;
  • Perform structural strength and stiffness analysis, and optimize designs using finite element analysis (FEA) to meet vibration, shock, and fatigue life requirements;
  • Develop structural designs related to kinematics and dynamics (e.g., joint degrees of freedom, transmission systems, tolerance and precision control);
  • Collaborate on multidisciplinary integration with electrical and control systems (e.g., motors, gearboxes, drives, sensor layout, and thermal management);
  • Deliver complete design documentation, including 3D models, 2D drawings, BOMs, and assembly process documentation, in compliance with engineering standards (GB/ISO);
  • Support prototyping, assembly, and testing; identify structural issues and drive iterative design improvements;
  • Participate in material selection and process design for composites (e.g., carbon fiber) and metals (e.g., aluminum alloys, titanium alloys);
  • Establish and refine structural design standards and modular design methodologies to improve product reusability and engineering efficiency.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Mechatronics, or related fields;
  • Siemens NX (formerly UG NX) for 3D modeling and complex assembly design, with experience in large-scale projects;
  • Solid understanding of UAV structural design principles (aerodynamic layout, load analysis, vibration control) or humanoid robot structural design (joint design, transmission systems, stiffness and precision control);
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical design fundamentals (gears, harmonic drives, planetary gear systems, bearing selection, etc.);
  • Familiarity with lightweight design methodologies (topology optimization, material substitution, structural optimization);
  • Experience with finite element analysis (e.g., ANSYS, Abaqus) is preferred;
  • Knowledge of composite material design and manufacturing processes (e.g., carbon fiber layup, molding/hot pressing) is a plus;
  • Familiarity with UAV or robotics-related standards and regulations (e.g., structural safety, reliability design) is a plus;
  • Hands-on project experience (e.g., UAV development, robotics competitions, humanoid robot projects) is preferred;
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with control, electrical, and software teams.
