PCB Design Engineer

Responsibilities

• Design schematics and PCB layouts for robot joint drives, motor control systems, and power management circuits;
• Contribute to hardware system architecture design, including modules such as MCUs, DSPs, FPGAs, motor drivers, power supplies, current sensing, and signal conditioning;
• Design high-speed, multi-layer PCBs (4/6/8+ layers), including impedance control and EMC/EMI optimization;
• Develop and optimize PCBs for motor driver boards (FOC control), power boards (MOSFET/IGBT), and control boards;
• Perform signal integrity (SI) and power integrity (PI) analysis; optimize high-speed interfaces (e.g., CAN FD, EtherCAT);
• Work with hardware engineers on debugging, identify and resolve PCB-related issues (e.g., crosstalk, noise, thermal concerns);
• Prepare complete manufacturing deliverables, including Gerber files, BOMs, assembly drawings, and pick-and-place files; interface with PCB vendors and SMT production;
• Contribute to or lead component selection, footprint library maintenance, and design rule definition  

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electronics Engineering, Automation, Communications Engineering, Mechatronics, or related fields;

• Proficient in at least one PCB design tool:

  • Altium Designer
  • KiCad
  • Cadence Allegro

• Solid understanding of multi-layer PCB design practices, including:

  • Differential pair routing
  • Impedance control
  • High-speed layout for interfaces such as CAN, EtherCAT, SPI, LVDS
• Experience with motor drive and power electronics design is preferred (e.g., BLDC/PMSM, FOC-related hardware);

• Familiarity with common communication interfaces and protocols:

  • CAN / CAN FD
  • EtherCAT (preferred)
  • UART / SPI / I2C
• Strong experience in EMC/EMI design (e.g., grounding strategies, return paths, power decoupling);
• Familiarity with sensor interfaces and circuits (e.g., encoders, current sensing, Hall sensors);

• Preferred experience:

  • Robotics, motor drives, or industrial control projects
  • High-power board design (drivers, power supplies)
  • Peripheral circuit design for controllers such as TI C2000 and STM32

Preferred Qualifications (Nice to Have)

• Experience in PCB design for robotic joint modules or servo drives;
• Experience with high-speed interface design (e.g., EtherCAT slave hardware);
• Familiarity with DFM/DFT (Design for Manufacturability/Testability);
• Experience with mass production and volume PCB delivery.
